Get more from what you already own
Sweat your assets
Sound familiar?
- You pay for ServiceNow, Salesforce, Pega or PeopleSoft and use a fraction of what you've licensed.
- Four instances of the same trading system, one in each region, each with its own vendor relationship.
- Branches with shrinking customer traffic and head-office staff working from home, and the two never meet.
- Technology adoption is a line in the business case and nobody measures it afterwards.
What I do
Before anything new is bought or built, I find what you already own that would do the job, and I make adopting it the default: the existing application on the menu of every business case, the vendor's full feature set in use, duplicate instances consolidated, and the people and buildings you have put to work differently. The same discipline runs across technology, workplace and operations, because a branch is an asset too.
What it has produced
Scotiabank: projects adopting an existing application rather than building rose from 20% to 46%, applications used in more than one country up 73% to 401, and four global Kondor+ trading systems consolidated into one. The Agile Ecosystem workspace model and the technology work-from-home and return-to-office strategy. → Scotiabank, reuse before build · Scotiabank GBM platform
Deutsche Bank: four tool stacks into one for 25,000 technologists. → Deutsche Bank developer tooling
Retail banking designs: in-branch co-working for head-office staff, cash-free branches with roaming tellers, and decentralised call-centre operations, each worked through for capacity, security, compliance, training and the change management it needs.
How we'd start
A four-week asset review: the applications, licences, instances and sites you pay for, what each is used for, and the three consolidations or adoptions that pay back first.
